ccScan for Box is available in two editions: ccScan Advanced and ccScan Standard. ccScan Advanced, which includes all functionality of ccScan Standard, allows for automated and unattended operations. ccScan Advanced is used in both paper-based and paperless offices typically as part of a Business Automation Process. Apply ccScan Advanced to scanning of paper documents and importing of electronic documents. Alternatively, use ccScan Standard to eliminate most of the manual steps when scanning paper documents directly to Box. Scan documents from your Windows desktop with any TWAIN scanner without any page or volume charges.
ccScan Advanced for Box is best explained with some examples:
ccScan Advanced features are based upon sophisticated technologies such as barcode detection, OCR, and Text Pattern search with Regular Expressions. These capabilities are applied to both the scanning of paper documents in the paper-based office and the processing of electronic documents in the paperless office.

ccScan Standard for Box ccScan Standard is similar to ccScan Advanced without the automation capabilities. ccScan Standard is typically used in a paper-based office to efficiently scan paper documents to Box. Use ccScan Standard to eliminate wasted time and the following extra steps: scan a document to your PC using any Twain scanner, name the document, create a folder in Box, upload the document to Box, and finally setting up Box document properties such as Description, Tags, and Sharing mode. Instead, ccScan Standard does all of the above in a single-step operation.
Separate multi-page documents automatically with barcodes included with ccScan or create your own. Hierarchical folder storage schemes are quickly set up with field macros or barcodes. Separate a scanned batch into individual documents which can be directed to specific folders. Use OCR-assisted indexing with the optional OCR Engine to automatically populate input fields such as description and tag words with text extracted from selected portions of the scanned image. Annotate and redact documents before storing them.
ccScan provides access to all available Box third party document upload settings. In addition to specifying or creating folders, ccScan supports these settings which can be applied to directly scanned or imported documents:
After installation ccScan is ready-to-use with a set of default jobs. Jobs can easily be customized to process recurring scanning or importing tasks with minimal clicks to save time and reduce possible input errors. On a per-job basis decide which Box, scanner, and import fields the user should enter and what the defaults should be for these fields as well as which fields should not be shown.
ccScan does not store any Box user names and passwords in the computer. Documents and settings are transferred directly from your PC to Box without uploading them first to any intermediate web servers. In addition, SSL is always enabled to encrypt transmissions. ccScan's built-in AES encryption technology protects the contents of scanning and import jobs.
Save scanned documents in industry standardized PDF formats. For everyday documents use the normal PDF format. For long term preservation to guarantee future viewing, use archive quality PDF/A-1b. Use the ccScan Advanced OCR engine to convert scanned images to PDF with searchable text while retaining the original document appearance. An optional OCR engine is available for ccScan Standard products.
In addition to scanning, ccScan includes a powerful Bulk Import capability. Bulk Import uses wildcards to select document names and/or extensions from a folder, and if desired, recursively traverse all subfolders. For example, you may select TIF or GIF files with the letter X in the second filename position by using a wildcard specification of ?X*.?if. Then enable recursion of folders. Check Bulk Folder Recursion, then ccScan will navigate all folders below the starting folder and import all files meeting the wildcard spec. Import any PDF, JPEG, TIF, PNG, BMP or DCX document types as well as e-docs accepted by Box.
ccScan provides a password-protected setup mode to allow administrators to manage creation and setup of all jobs for the user. For smaller operations the administrator and user could be the same person. A daily audit trail is maintained in script-friendly XML or JSON format to keep track of all scanning and import activity.
